In Reply To Those with Hagerty may want to call Grundy... posted by zgene4 on June 25, 2012 at 09:11 AM

Message after speaking with each company, i was left with the following:
Quoted from the below link:
"there were some questions regarding what was covered (or not in this case). I spoke with them this morning and here's what they said.

I asked them about pleasure driving. If I want to take a drive on a Sunday up into the mountains, am I covered? Yes, as long as you don't spend the night. No overnight trips are covered. Well, there goes Power Tour.

I asked if I was allowed to drive to my buddies house to work on his 69 Camaro which is also insured through Grundy. My car is covered IF I'm taking it there to work on it. It is NOT covered if I drove it over there to work on his car.

The morning trips to the store to get money from the ATM.... NOT covered. Going to the bank? No way. And don't think of leaving it unattended at a car show (which is one of the few places it's covered). If you're off looking at the other cars and something happens to yours, not covered. Basically, 99% of the driving I've been doing the last year I've been insured through them is not covered.

I have been with Hagerty in the past; good company, only switched cause Grundy offered unlimited mileage (wonder why, you can't go anywhere!) and lower rates. I'll be calling Hagerty and K&K this morning."

Grundy expects you to drive the car only for pleasure driving, to and from car shows, or to and from shops to have your car worked on. it can NEVER spend a night out of the garage.

Haggerty expects you to use the car and seems more lenient with your restrictions.

What i'm left with is that Grundy's rates are so much lower because with all the restrictions, the odds of you actually making a claim are so incredibly small that they can charge you much less than Haggerty.

However, at the end of the day, i think most of us are most concerned with a total loss WHILE driving, and secondly a theft at a place where we DO consider the car 'safe' like our own garages etc if we are out of town. however, the main reason i dont do certain things in my Z that i would do if i was 'fully' insured with agreed value is because i'm scared of having the car stolen if i take a ride down to the beach and get a bite to eat, the car will be gone when i come out, but according to what i hear from Grundy, my car would not be covered in that situation.
